You are able to wear magic items more easily than other creatures of your kind.
Magic Item Slots Source Ultimate Wilderness pg. 176 The sheer diversity among species of animal companions and familiars makes it difficult to determine what kinds of magic items are suitable for a creature to use or wear. Animal Item Slots Although it’s easy to imagine an animal benefiting from magic equipment beyond a simple saddle and a suit of barding, fitting a mount’s physiology to the list of item slots available to characters is not an easy task. Try the following variant list of item slots for quadruped animals (and other monsters when appropriate).
Prerequisites: Non-humanoid body shape. T slot nuts fastenal.
Benefit: Choose one magic item slot not normally available to creatures with your shape. You can now use magic items in that slot.
Special: Feats that are meant for familiars can be switched out for a familiar’s default feats (as listed in the familiar’s statistics) if the familiar meets the prerequisites. Such feat replacements must be made when the PC first acquires a new familiar, and-like all new feats from supplemental sources-the new feats should be approved by the GM before being integrated into play.Pathfinder Society Animal Companion Item Slots
Pathfinder Player Companion: Animal Archive © 2013, Paizo Publishing, LLC; Authors: Amanda Hamon, Philip Minchin, Jason Nelson, Patrick Renie, Owen K.C. Stephens, and Christina Stiles. We’ve got a druid and a ranger that both have wolves for companions. As our group has no traditional tank fighter we tend to use them quite a lot in combat. I’m about to take up a collection to get them some equipment.
My question is: what exactly can they use? I’d like to get them some form of light weight armor/barding that won’t slow them down too much (leather most likely - especially for the druid’s wolf). My co-DM has mentioned magic collars, but do wolves (or other quadrapeds for that matter) have any other ’magic item slots’?
Thanks.
